Do Rapid Heart Rate, Light-headedness And Increased Blood Pressure Need Immediate Medical Attention?

I am a 65 year old female. I am Experiencing rapid heart rate and lightheadedness. My top blood pressure has also been elevated the past week. I also experienced pains under the left breast area a few nights ago. This lasted about 10 minutes and has not reoccurred. Is this something that needs immediate attention?

Hello, I can understand your concern over the symptoms you are having. There are many reasons for it but as per your age most likely to be is high blood pressure issue. Are you already hypertensive and getting treatment for it?Any history of diabetes?Any other health condition you are having along with it?
If you have already diagnosed as hypertensive, then do not miss any medications given by your doctor for this.Do keep checking your blood pressure and keep a record of it so that while seeing your doctor you can easily give the details to your doctor about it.And I would suggest you meet your doctor regarding this issue because, if this is ignored it can lead to serious heart issues, which are better managed early to avoid further complications.
If you are experiencing this for the first time then, I would suggest you seek immediate medical attention because at this age any chest pain irrespective of its reasons should not be ignored.I would suggest you get an EKG done when next time you have chest pain. Also, keep the blood pressure changes you observed recorded and do let your doctor know about it.If it needs to be treated after knowing the proper reason behind it.Then as soon it is done, good for you.
Apart from this if you have any anxiety issues then also do not ignore it, visit a doctor no matter what the reason is, talk to your doctor and follow your doctor's advice.

Hope this helps, if you have any other queries do feel free to contact HCM. Wish you a good health.
