Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has MDS. His WBC was elevated to 27.3 yesterday, after usually being 10.6. He had suset stomach Monday night; with vomiting and diaria. The nurse called today and wanted to know if he had taken any steriods. He had taken an antiacid and an Aleve. Not sure just what all constitutes a steriod.
Antiacid and Aleve are not steroids. Aleve is an antiinflammatory, active principle is Naproxene. These drugs can not have caused evelvated WBC count: more likely he has an infection that has caused an elevation of WBC count, so I suggest you to go to a doctor for a visit.
