Do The Painful Head And Leg Lumps With Bruising Need Medical Attention?
Hi, my daughter is 14 and fell off a Segway today. She grazed her elbow and knee which is less concerning, compared to her head and leg. The Segway hit her head from quite high up, and now there is a smallish lump with grazing. Secondly , on the way home, she rest her arm onto her left calve and jumped in pain. We looked, and there is a bruised lump? It is causing her pain but she can just about walk on it Does her head or her leg need looking at?
Regarding your concern, I would explain that the lump in her head is related to soft tissue injury. As she didn't loose conscience, this means that her brain has not had a severe trauma.
I recommend putting some ice on it and taking some painkillers. Having some rest is necessary.
Regarding the lump in her leg, I can not determine if it is just soft tissue bruise or a ligament rupture or a broken bone. That is why I would recommend consulting with an orthopedist for a physical exam and performing a calve X Ray study.
Hope to have been helpful! Kind regards, Dr. Aida
