Hi,Good day, I m from the Philippines,I m an assistant in a pet shop here in Manila and I handle different animals on a daily basis.My concern is that in the past one year and four months I received a total of 18 doses of anti rabies pcec vaccine,the bites and scratches are from handling those animals,listed below are the dates on which the doses were administered to me. I just want to add that doctors here in Manila would require you to take booster shots (2 doses) if you were exposed to suspected rabid animals when its more than 30 days from your last anti rabies vaccination. Hence why I received the numerous doses in such a short span of time. March 2015, 3 doses- pre exposure June 2015, 3 doses- booster dose(dog scratch) September 2015, 2 doses- booster(dog scratch) November 2015, 2 doses-booster(dog scratch) January 2016, 2 doses - booster (cat scratch) March. 2016, 2 doses-booster (cat scratch) May. 2016, 2 doses-booster (dog scratch) July 2016, 2doses-booster (dog scratch) My concerns are. 1. What are the bad side effects of taking so many pcec doses in such a short span of time? 2.Is there any truth that anti rabies vaccine when given to a person frequently can cause rabies because its made from inactivated rabies virus. 3.How long is a person protected from the rabies virus if that someone has received the full course of treatment plus booster doses? 4.When do you need to get a booster dose? Do a person really need to have a booster dose every time you are exposed(scratch,bitten) to a suspected infected animal? 5.Are the doses that I received to much?For how long am I protected?
