Does Bupropion Help In The Treatment Of Insomnia?

I am just starting Bupropion. I take Mirtzapine for depression. I need to get some sleep. I am in bed about 1 -2 a night. I am also diabetic. I need to lose another 15 pounds so that I can have a knee replaced (hopefully my A1C will be down tomorrow). I was in the hospital 3 weeks in Jan and Feb: cellulitis and edema; stent inserted into a bypass graft of 17 years ago; I thought it was torn rotator cuff but it wasn t. Doctor recommended MRI for my neck but there is no way I can pay for one. Question is: will this help me sleep better and also help me lose weight?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It will help with the sleep, but evidence for weight loss is conflicting. Weight changes do occur. But there can be weight gain as well.

Wishing you best of health.

Thanks.
