Does Cipro Taken For UTI Causes Painful Gluteus Maximus Ruptured Tendon ?
I was given Cipro for a UTI the first week of January of this year. Since then I have a painful gluteus Maximus ruptured tendon. An orthopedic doc said I had bursitis in my hip which may be true but I have a 6 long hole/cap in my lower buttocks area. My family doctor thinks this is a side effect of the Cipro I took however he has not found an appropriate specialist to help me. What type of specialist should I see? The pain is chronic and it is uncomfortable to stand or sit for any length of time.
Hello Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have been taking Ciprofloxacin for UTI and have noticed painful Glutius Maximus muscle which you think it to be due to side effect of Ciprofloxacin.
I would like to state that this is definitely not due to side effect of Ciprofloxacin.
Please get your MRI done to confirm the same and follow his instructions regarding further treatment.
