clarithromycin is an antibiotics from macrolides group, to fight bacteria infection in your body. Clarithromycin is usually given for up to 7 to 14 days depends on the infection. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. Skipping doses may also increase risk of further infection such as antibiotics resistance.
The more common side effects of clarithromycin tablet such as: stomach pain,
diarrhea,
nausea &
vomiting, abnormal taste in your mouth. fluttering in chest is also one of its side effect. clarithromycin can cause
heart rhythm disorder, e.g. irregular heart beat (fast, pounding, or slow). it may shows us there's a QT prolongation in your heart. if this side effect continues or worsens, please meet your doctor to have an appropriate examination (ECG) or if you need to stop this drug.
for your concerns, here some warnings for you:
1. Clarithromycin may cause severe liver symptoms. Stop taking it and call your doctor if you have any of these liver symptoms:
severe itching, tired feeling, nausea, upper stomach pain, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay colored stools, or
jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes).
2. it may cause the heart rhythm problem QT prolongation. This condition may cause fast, chaotic heartbeats.
3. Diarrhea: Almost all antibiotics, including clarithromycin, can cause Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea. if it's severe, better contact your doctor.
