Does Clindamycin Contain Shellfish?

Does clindamycin contain shellfish? My doctor prescribed it twice for a respiratory infection and both times broke out in hives after only one pill. I am allergic to the iodine in shellfish so I was wondering if it contained it. He put me on a different antibiotic which took care of both infections.

NO, clindamycin does not contain shell fish nor should there be any cross reaction.

The fact that you had a reaction means that you are also independently allergic to this medication.
You would need to note this to prevent from being prescribed in the future.
