Does Concor Have Any Acute Side Effects?

Dear Doctor, I am 25 years old, male who currently consuming 2.5mg of concor daily for about 1.5 years. I am 170cm tall; weight 56kg. I want to know more in details the negative effect for long term consumption of this medicine since i am still in the early adulthood stage. I have consulted the doctor that prescribed me this medicine and he told me to continue with it. I understand that i am easily nervous type of person which may lead to my increase heartbeat rate. My heartbeat rate and blood pressure are quite high before i consume Concor. My neck and jaw feel stiff frequently together with cracking sounds in my ears. I have consult ENT and cardiology specialist recently. The report shows that everything is normal. My latest blood test shows that FT4 = 23.4mg/L, TSH = 0.962 mIU/L & FT3 = 5.5mg/L. All the concentration are near the range borderline. The cardiology feel doubt to my family doctor decision of giving me Concor at this very young stage. Is my thyroid function lead to my abnormality? I just wanted to know what actually happen to me and shall i continue with the medicine? I doubt that if this medicine will shorten my life span and lead to heart disease?..

Hello,

Concor is a drug used to treat High blood pressure and heart failure. In details.

The more common side effects of bisoprolol oral tablet include slower heart rate, diarrhea, weakness, tiredness, anxiety, and changes in sex drive or performance.

These side effects are more frequent in higher dosis and long term use.

Don"t worry because with 2,5 mf Concor(that is a low dosis), the possibility of side effects, even with long term use, is very very low.

It is not true that Concor will shorten your life span and leads to heart diseases, even if you take it long term.

Your thyroid test results are within the range and this excludes the thyroid gland as a possible cause of your increased heart rate and high blood pressure.

Tachycardia and high blood pressure are not common at 25 years old.

For this reason, my advice is to consult a cardiologist in your area because it is necessary to do some tests to check for potential causes of your actual symptoms.

Anemia, acute stress, smoking, high quantity of coffee, the consumption of alcohol, marijuana or other stimulants can produce fast heart rate and mild to moderate hypertension at young adults.

So, I suggest to consult and be followed up by a cardiologist for the right diagnosis and the right treatment of your condition.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
