I am 76 yrs old, 243lbs and have atrial fib. I am on Diltiazem 240 hs and Crestor hs. I was recently put on Coverysl plus for diastolic dysfunction and have a cough and upset stomach. I am on nexium 40 mg for Gerd and zyloprim for Uric acid kidney stones. Is the cough and stomach upset from the coverysl?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome.
Yes, Coversyl can cause cough and stomach upset.

Coversyl (Perindopril) is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor commonly prescribed to treat high blood pressure and mild-to-moderate heart failure (diastolic dysfunction).

Its most common side effects include hypotension (fall in blood pressure), dry cough and swelling of the face and eye lids.

I advise you to stop taking Coversyl and consult your treating doctor for an alternate effective but a safer medication like Losartan to treat diastolic dysfunction.

Hope this will help.
