Is doxofylline banned in india as well. I have been using the drug for the past 3 days (twice daily) and am experiencing side effects such as stomach upsets, nausea, mouth dryness. Should I continue it. I heard in major developed countries it is banned then why not in india.

Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concerns regarding the safety of Doxofylline.
Yes, it may cause stomach upset.

Doxofylline (phosphodiesterase inhibitor) is a new generation long acting potent bronchodilator mainly used for maintenance therapy in patients suffering with asthma and chronic bronchitis.

As compared to old generation phosphodiesterase inhibitors it is generally safe however it may cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, stomach upset, insomnia, headache, tachycardia, palpitations, nervousness and dizziness may occur.

You are advised to consult your treating doctor for either its dose reduction or to prescribe an alternate effective medication for your symptoms.
