Hi I am HIV positive from a blood transfusion back in 1983. I m have been on Antivirals sense I found out in 1995. I m in ok health and never had a boyfriend. I just met the guy and I want to know will I give him HIV by kissing him. I just know him for a few days and I don t know when or how to tell him I have HIV. I just want to know if he kisses me can I give it to him.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. HIV spreads through penile/vaginal fluid and through blood. If it has to pass through saliva, it might need a glass full of saliva to transmit it which is not possible while kissing.

So, it is safe to kiss or share food while having HIV. However, your partner should know about the infectious disease you have so you should tell him earlier than later.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
