Does Letrozole Cause Elevated Heart Rate?

For the past two years I have taken Letrozole with some side effects but today I ended up in a cardiologist office with a heart rate of 200 BPM. I had a EKG and will have a echocardiogram tomorrow. She tells me this is a rare side effect. Is that true?

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear you've been having some problems with a fast heart rate while on Letrozole. A fast heart has been rarely associated with Letrozole, less than 1% of patients get this.

But with a heart rate of 200 I would suspect you had some sort of arrhythmia, like a supraventricular tachycardia, and I would look for other causes before saying Letrozole was the cause.

Doing an EKG and echocardiogram is appropriate and maybe that will help determine if there is something about your heart causing this.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
