Does Levimir Insulin Aggravate Cataract?

Hello, thank you for allowing me to ask for help in addressing a medical issue that I have. does Levimir(canadian brand name) insulin which is a steroid contributes to cataracts? if so to what degree?what other factors contribute to cataracts? also can you recommend an artificial tear product that doesn t contain preservatives. also, how long can you safely use an artificial tear product for? thank you deepak

Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
There is no unequivocal evidence that Levimir causes cataract and it is not a recognised side effect.
Diabetes is a well known risk factor for cataract.
