Does Methadone Show Up When Tested As False Positive In System?

I got hired at a Hospital as a Registered Nurse and I m on the Methadone program, my concern is I ve heard that when you get drug tested that if u have Methadone in your system it s possible that the tests results could come back saying I m taking Oxycodone, the drug test could potentially come back as a false positive, and/or there is a possibility it won t show up at all. Please clarify this for me, which one is actually true or if in fact they all are true or they all are false???

I can understand your concern. Methadone is an opioid drug used in detox programs. The drug is chemically similar to morphine, Oxycodone or other opioid drugs. So if you are taking methadone then you should test positive on drug testing in pre-employment screening. Most of screening tests use immunological methods to detect opioids so you are at risk of testing positive. If you have been taking prescribed Methadon then that would not be a big issue. Explain then and present your prescription if you test positive.
