Does Nexium 40mg Work For Helicobacter Pylori Infection?
I had stomach pain, look like pain running around, had to go to bathroom to release gasses and bowel movement. look like burning. Pain stopped a week ago than after 4 days come back less painful. I have acids, burping, and of and on dull pain in the middle of abdomen, short. I was told that is H.pylory even I had 10 years ago. I am taking Nexium 40mg. I am 69 years old
You will have to undergo blood culture and sensitivity to detect the sensitivity of the antibiotics to this h.pylori infection with other investigations.
Tab.nexium (esomeprazole) is a proton pump inhibitor and helps to reduce stomach acid and gas formation but when there is H.pylori infection, you will have to take triple drug therapy or alternative triple drug regimen to get rid off this infection.
You should be given amoxycillin + clarithromycin with antacid (ranitidine or omeprazole/ pantoprazole).
If there is failure of triple drug regimen or resistant strain of h.pylori then one can try alternative triple therapy or quadruple therapy.
