Depo-Provera being only Progestational preparation is known to cause break through bleeding and some irregularities in menses. If you are having irregular menses with Depo-Provera, it is good proposition to switch over to Norifam injections.
Norifam injectable contraceptive contains Norethisterone and Estradiol. Being combination of Progestational compound and Oestrogenic compound, the manufacturers claim that the menses will be regular without any break through bleeding.
As your midwife has advised you very rightly, you should wait for your menses to appear. This will rule out the possibility of any pregnancy. You are sure; however health care provider has to follow the guidelines.
I hope this convinces you.
