Does Oxycodone Cause Loss Of Sense Of Taste?

I had surgery and take one oxycodone every night for theee weeks but also take four Motrin before bed and then three in the morning and afternoon. I’ve notices that nothing tastes the same anymore. Everything tastes terrible.
Does nothin or oxycodone cause loss of taste? Also, once I stop , how long until i can taste food normally?
Thanks

Hello,

Bad taste in the mouth when you are taking so many painkillers is due to a side effect of the medication. Bad taste is commonly a side effect of a number of medicines, and it generally goes away when the medicine intake is stopped.

You should, first of all, consult your physician and get yourself checked and discuss if the dose of painkillers can be reduced as you are taking a number of them. As you will gradually come off the painkillers the tasks will gradually improve, and once the painkillers are completely stopped, it can take for about a week to ten days for the symptoms to get better.

For now, you should clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner and along with it, do soda bicarb gargles.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
