Does Prednisone Cause Tingling Calf Cramps And Neck Pain?

I am a 55 year old woman who has been diagnosed with PMR. I have been on prednisone almost 2 years. My legs sometimes tingle and my calves cramp almost daily. Also, and even more worrying, I get a pain in the right side of my neck, especially when exercising. It is half way between my collar bone and jaw, next to my windpipe.

Hi
Thanks for trusting healthcaremagic for your health issues.

Your complain is suggestive of muscle pain which might be due to relative hypokalemia caused by fluid retention because of chronic use of prednisone. You can check blood electrolyte levels and when results are in your hand you can consult treating physician.

Regards
DR. Hiren
