Does Prozac Cause Tremors In The Body?

Hi! I am a 66 year old female. I have been on Prozac for 28 years. I read on Web MD that a side effect of Prozac are tremors. Recently my hands have started shaking and my brother who is also a doctor told me that I may have Essential tremor condition and that I should go to a Neurologist but after seeing that Prozac can cause tremors I may try to quit Prozac on my own and see if the tremors stop before going to a Neurologist. I am able to function normally except for the shaking especially in the morning after taking 40 mg of Prozac nightly before bedtime. I really think it is the Prozac after realizing that I shake the most in the morning. No one in my family has or have had any tremors. I could try another anti depressant if I need it later. I just want to see if the tremors stop with stopping the Prozac.

Hello,
It is not a good idea to stop the prozac on your own. When prozac causes tremors it is usually shortly after starting to take it, not after you have been on it for a long time. I think you should keep taking the prozac and see a neurologist as soon as possible.
Regards
