Does Sulfa In Lasix Same As Other Sulfa Drugs?

lasix is a drug with sulfa in it, i am allergic to sulfa it puts me in upper respiratory failure I am retaining fluid and the doctors can't seem to find any water drug that does not contain sulfa. Is the sulfa in lasix the same as in other sulfa drugs?

Thanks for contacting HCM. You are concerned about the sulfa in Lasix can cause sulfa allergy in someone allergic to sulfa. Yes the Lasix does have a similar sulfa group that is similar to sulfa found in antibiotics and can cause allergic reactions in those allergic to sulfonamides. Edecrine is a diuretic that does not have sulfa. Ask your doctor to see if edecrine is an options for you.
