Hi,
From the query, you were on Voltaren oral tablet and found to have inflammation in the stomach in Gastroscopy. Voltaren contains Diclofenac as composition. Diclofenac is classified as Non steoidal anti inflammatory drugs. It is used to reduce pain, inflammation particularly in joints which decreases the
joint stiffness. NSAIDs such as Diclofenac, Ibuprofen, etc. will inhibit the
prostaglandin secretion in the stomach. Prostaglandin is the hormone secreted in the stomach which increases the gastric mucus secretion which protects the stomach lining from
gastric acid.
Prostaglandin inhibition results in stomach lining exposure to the acid which results in inflammation and in turn ulcers. NSAIDs should be taken along with antacid, or with diet. But it delays the absorption and its action such as pain relief. You should have balanced diet that may not affect the gastric lining. Oil free food, non spicy and non fatty diet is the best option. Follow the diet schedule to aggravate the inflammation.
Proton pump inhibitors helps to reduce the
gastric inflammation. Caffeine is also hazardous in gastritis.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
