Does Venlafaxine Withdrawal Cause Nausea?

I have been taking Venlafaxine (150 mg) per day to gain relief from hot flashes caused by the injection (once every 12 weeks) of Lupron or Leuprolide for prostate cancer. Recently, my subscription of Venlafaxifne ran out, I was on the road, and went three days without it. During those three days I felt nauseous and upset. Is this because I abruptly stopped taking the Venlafaxine? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The given symptoms of flashes and nausea may not be due to the drug Venlafaxine neither it can cause the withdrawal. But the cause of symptoms could be dyspepsia, acid peptic disease, vestibular dysfunction, and many others but Venlafaxine may not be the cause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain,
