Does Vesicare Have A Substitute To Treat Prostate Problems?

I have been on Vesicare for prostate problems for a couple of years. A change in insurance providers is causing a problem. I received a notice that they will no longer cover this drug and I should request a change to another. Which other drugs are similar and perhaps could treat the same prostate issues. I would like to look up any others on the insurance formulary for coverage before my next Dr. appointment. Don Wooley

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my surgical experience, the prostate medical therapy depends upon the prostate size, post-void residual urine as well as other systemic features as hypertension or else.

* In general, selective alpha-blockers as Terazosin and others will help to cover the urinary frequency and urgency related issues very well and the same alternatives can opt with a urologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
