Does WBC Count Of 35000 Within A Week Of Zostavax Shot A Potential Side Effect Of The Vaccine?
I had Zostavax shot last Thursday. No noticible reactions. Went to my family doctor on Monday, routine CBC done, and today learned that my WBC was 35,000 ! I don't know of any infections, but doc is sending me to hematologist. Is this a potential side effect of the Zostavax vaccine?
hi, Zostavax is a live viral vaccine used to prevent herpes zoster infections. It can occasionally cause fever and transient rise in cell count. As you have not mentioned the differential count and the absolute rise of predominant cell, it is difficult to tell whether it is a reaction to the vaccine. As adviced, it is better to consult a hematologist. Hope this helped.
