Does Xarelto Cause Swelling In The Elbow Joint?

My husband has recently had swelling on his elbow it looked as if a golf ball was inserted under the skin of the joint. The following day there was a bruise & the bruise has spread to quite a large area on his arm. He does not have any pain nor does he recall having injured the elbow. He does take Xarelto & are wondering if this could be contributing to the bruising. Thank you. Eileen Jackson

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It is not related to Xarelto.

It could be due to contusion or minor injuries.

As of now, apply icepacks for faster recovery.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedic and plan for an X-ray or MRI.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
