Does Zinnat Cause Vomiting During Pregnancy?

Hi I m 11 Weeks pregnant and have shivers, Slight fever, cough, headache, lots of mucous I ve been off medication for a while. Dr Now prescribed Zinnat Antibiotic During my First Pregnancy, reaction to Zinnat was excessive Vomiting Any suggestions? I m really skeptical and afraid of the side effects

Hello,

Yes, it can cause vomiting as its side effect. Zinnat (cefuroxime) is a cephalosporin antibiotic commonly prescribed for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections like chest or lower respiratory tract, urinary tract etcetera.

Its most common side effects include diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. So in addition to antibiotic Zinnat, excessive vomiting could also be due 'morning sickness' or hyperemesis gravidarum for which you need to consult your treating doctor. An alternate effective antibiotic would be prescribed to eradicate the respiratory tract infection which you are suffering from.
