Hi my mom is 68 yes old she is a diabetic she takes her insulin daily plus other meds my question is can she take Zoloft along with 400 mg of bupropion and a mild anxiety pill I know she takes Zoloft along big with the bupropion and a low dose of alzanapram anyways I can not ask her psychologist because it s her visit I do go with her to translate but she surely understands English therefore I can ask her doc any questions about her meds, besides all that she will flip out I find her a bit crazy she changes her moods like the wind one minute she s sweet and kind to the another minute she becomes some one totally different everything bothers her and I can not tell her that maybe it s because of her meds she also takes trazadom for sleep she takes 100 mg nightly I mean it concerns me a bit not sure if she should be taking all those downers like she is and all honesty she s a very hard person to live with she gets agitated quickly I mean about the most little things on the other hand I also understand some people are just hard to live with but she changes her moods quickly through out the day she seems like a miserable person not very happy I know when she is on some certain meds just by her actions, also can she withdraw from stop taking any of those meds I remember on one occasion her primary doc told her she couldn t be taking some meds together because they basically do the same thing she claims that she needs them she has been on these meds for about 6 plus yrs now I m just concerned for her health
Hello, NO, zoloft has no role in controlling her diabetes. Zoloft is an anti-depressant of SSRI category drug sertraline. It helps to combat her depressive symptoms. For diabetes control she needs to bring a change in her lifestyle and also should take duly care about her daily caloric intake and food variety. Moderate exercise or even walking is also beneficial. She should consult her Endocrinologist or a MD Medicine or Physician in order to adjust dosage of Insulin, or if any other anti diabetic medication is needed. She should also consult her psychologist if there are frequent changes in her mood and behavior, so that drug dosage changes and any alteration could be easily done.
