Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 52 yr old female, healthy, I work out at a fitness center, lately having a little irritation to the left knee. or above the knee, when I do squats or use leg curl machine it tends to bother me. could it be a tendon or tear? I was looking online, it looks like maybe the quadricep tendon? is this something to worry about, or needing medical attention?
As per your age and history there is possibility of soft tissue injury in knee. Most commonly meniscus injury occurs.
As per your symptoms you need to do physiotherapy and knee exercises to improve range of motion . If pain persist then you may need to do MRI again to see for any functional defect.
Small meniscus tear can be managed conservatively with physiotherapy with USG and TENS. Meniscus injury can be managed by arthroscopic repair, and same day you can go home. Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
Wishing you good health.
Take care
