Does A Tumor Above The Knee Needs A Surgery?

my husband was told he had a tumor above his knee and surgery was needed. he has had this problem, unknown to me, for about 15 years. he said that it does cause him slight discomfort sometimes. I would like to know if a tumor has roots and are they attached, in his case, to the bone around his knee.

Tumour is a generalized term.It has to be identified whether it is a benign swelling or a malignant swelling. I would suggest you to first get needle test of this swelling As you are telling me that it is present since 15 years then it is not dangerous for life. If it is not causing any discomfort then it can be observe but if it is causing any pressure or heaviness then it need surgery to remove this swelling.
