Does A Urinary Catheter Cause Long Term Side Effects?

I had a lap apendicetomy on friday...i could not pass urine properly ...inspite of repeately telling nurses about the same i was put on catheter only aftet 20 hrs post surgery on saturday...there was 600 ml of urine...now i m on catheter for 4 days...it will be removed on wednesday..i m worried if it will cause me a long term problem...i m 39 yrs old female. Pls help.

- care is taken to maintain hydration.
- avoid infection by antibiotic prophylaxis.
- keep ambulatory and maintain balanced diet intake.
