Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
So I m worried about if I drink, I will get pancreatic problems/ pancreatitis because My dad has hereditary pancreas issues, and they were triggered when he drank alcohol ( though Im not addicted and he was). What should I do? Refrain all together? Also for some more info, so far only males on my dads side have inherited pancreatitis, and I am a female.
HI Well come to HCM Your query and concern highly appreciated, alcohol consumption is not good for health if it is taken more than enough or taken more than 18 ml per day ( Of course it seems very low and no one can take this much small amount ) if you fear for something will happens due to hereditary pancreatic disease so it is not possible but due to it can be possible for sure so most important is to stay away from taking too much alcohol. Genetically constituted disease are totally different and that are not relate with your diet or alcohol taken. hope this information helps.
