Does Alcohol Interact With Xanax?

I took 1 mg of xanax at about midnight, before going to bed. (The Dr. prescribed it to me for anxiety. He told me to take it as needed, not everyday if I don t get anxious.) Can I drink alcohol tomorrow night if I don t take any xanax tomorrow? (If so, what time to drink would be ideal?) I was concerned because my pill bottle says Alcohol may increase these effects...drowsiness, dizziness...etc.. When I looked online I only found reports of people trying to consume both medications simultaneously, which is not the case for me. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Alcohol enhances xanax effects and side effects.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using HCM.
Avoiding alcohol would be the best choice, because although xanax is a short acting benzodiazepine, its effects persist even if you skip a dose. Alcohol enhances xanax effects and side effects. Even if you don't take it and drink alcohol, your anxiety will be stronger the next day. So in way to drink alcohol you should not take xanax for at least two days.

Hope this is helpful.
