Does Bleeding Black Mucus From The Vagina Require Further Medical Treatment?

I ve never had any vaginal problems until recently and I m scared but too embarrassed to speak up. I ve always had bad stomach cramping and fits of something similar to vertigo, and I would occasionally bleed after sex. Then I went to my obgyn appointment and got a regular Pap smear, a few days later they called and said they found inflammation and needed to do a second more in depth one. When I came in for that one they said that the cells along my cervical floor were discolored but then called back three days later and said it was just inflammation. They told me I would probably bleed for about a week and to not have sex for 3 days. They also told me that I would be bleeding out a blackish color because of the agent they used in the scope to stop bleeding, something with nitrite? And it smells. What do I do

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms are more consistent with infective causes like yeast or bacterial vaginosis. Consult a gynaecologist and plan for a vaginal swab to confirm the diagnosis. As of now you can use clotrimazole lotion to cleanse your genitals.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
