Does Bruised, Swollen Wrist After Being Hit Mean Fracture?
Hello I banged my wrist on a radiator with some force 3 weeks ago. Obviously it was very painful and became swollen, bruised and very tender to touch. Three weeks on and it is still bruised(the areas now just looks slightly discolured) swollon and tender although less so than it was. It is below the baze of my thumb. Do you think it is fractured? I can move my thumb and fingers. .

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query. It might be soft tissue injury or fracture. Without X-ray, it is difficult to differentiate a fracture from others. I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance. In the interim,anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid lifting and rest well.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
