Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I think I may have a carpal boss on my left hand. I remember lifting my hand up very swiftly and hard hitting a hard surface. A few months later I noticed a hard bony protuberance on my wrist. After some research it sounds like a carpal boss - I am seeing a doc for an X-ray in a month. But keen to know what treatments there are apart from surgery. I have just started using a wrist brace as it s been hurting abit lately. Can it go away on its own? I think I ve had it for a few months. Thank you Linda

Does Carpometacarpal Bossing Need Surgery?
Hello, If there is pain, surgical correction is required. If the symptoms are mild, conservative measures like physiotherapy will be more than enough. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
