Does Choking On A Pill Cause Numbness And Pain In The Arms?

My husband just choked on a pill and we were able to get it to dislodge but, now he has numbness and slight pain in both arms. He is also clammy with chills. Are these just consequences of a shocking incident? It did take awhile to get the pill dislodged. Very scary.

Hi,

Choking of a pill and symptoms may depend upon the size of the pill and chemical nature. It's mechanical obstruction may lead to coughing or gagging, hand signals and panic (sometimes pointing to the throat), sudden inability to talk, wheezing, passing out, turning blue etc.

But this tingling and numbness may be due to nerve root compression, cervical spondylosis, or infection etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Please consult your doctor, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
