Does Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Cause Elevated Blood Pressure Levels?

I was diagnosed with CLL in 2011. I am 77 years old. My numbers have gone to 35000 WBC. My husband died July 31 after a long illness.

My blood pressure last week went very high. My GP wanted me in the hospital to take an angiogram. Then Cardiologist gave me tests( echo and 24 hour heart monitor) and instead has me on higher doses of Diovan(320) and toprol (twice a day 60).

Question is there a link between CLL and high blood pressure?

Hello,

There is no link between Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) and high Blood Pressure (BP).

There is no documented evidence of correlation between chronic lymphocytic leukemia and high blood pressure.

However, other causes of high BP like stress, certain medications, or some underlying diseases like kidney diseases should be ruled out by relevant lab tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
