I have been constipated for several days, I have bulging dics st L4&5, I drank a bottle citrate of magnesium before noon y day and drank copious amounts of water and gator aid with only a few bites of food. Last night I jetted some fluid out and am now still having SEVERE COLON CRAMPING /HEADACHE AND EARS RINGING is this a side effect OF CIT/MAG? I still feel like I am full of stool, I have PED-3500 & Electrolytes, should I use it or just eat and see if symptoms abate? Colon cramping, headache, dizziness, ear ringing are known side effects of Magnesium citrate consumption. Since ou have already taken it and have problems I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult your Doctor asap or go to ER as you need a clinical evaluation and investigations of blood for electrolytes and other tests to know what is the status. This will allow to have exact diagnosis and plan for further management. Also needed is an X-ray of abdomen to see for fecoliths or other signs of obstruction. The possibility of other causes causing constipation and cramps should be searched for. Once the problems settle you have to consult a Gastroenterologist for full evaluation for the cause of constipation and get treated accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
