Does Daily Intake Of High Dose Levofloxacin Cause Joint Pains?

I was prescribed 750mg of levofloxin twice daily for 10 along with a 6 day methylprednisolone steroid pac. I was having sinusitis, asthma problem. Four days into the antibiotic I began to get sore knees. By the next few days my legs were in so much pain I couldn t walk. Now pain has spread to my wrists, elbows, and shoulders. I am extremely fatigued. Is it reasonable to prescribe 1500mg of levofloxin daily? And is it right to prescribe it with steroid medcication? Dr. also injected a steroid in his office.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The dose of levofloxacin can vary slightly according to the infection being treated.

For sinusitis, the dose is normally either 500mg once daily for 10 to 14 days or 750 mg once daily for 5 days.

The dose that you are currently using is higher than what is normally used.

There may be a reason that your doctor decided to use this dose. It would be best to discuss this with him or her.

I hope this helps
