Does Ear Abnormality Indicate Genetic Problems?

Hi, my grandaughter is 3 days old and I am concerned that she was born with very unusual ears and appears to have a double anti helix as well what looks like a double earlobe. She is now feeding well from the breast, but is very quiet and subdued. She had a difficult birth and was born using forceps. Does an ear abnormality mean there may be other things amiss genetically? I do not wish to concern my daughter and have not expressed these fears to her.

Hi...usually ear anomalies are associated with renal malformations and I suggest you get an ultrasound done to rule them out as they are difficult to diagnose clinically. Actually a lowly placed ears called - low set ears - are suggestive of genetic abnormality...but that diagnosis should be considered after looking at the kid's development and other aspect5s
