Does Engaging In A Single Activity For Long Hours Indicate Abnormality?

My friend's granddaughter used to endless rock on a rocking horse at around 18 - 24 months when I visited. Yesterday, at 30 months she walked in circles around the room pretty much for an hour. Otherwise she seems fine. She interacts, talks, is sympathetic to others, is a fraternal twin with two nannies.

This kind of stereo typical behavior if associated with decreased social interaction can suggest condition such as Rett syndrome. But as the child has good interaction with peers I think being involved in a single activity for long time may not be worrisome.
