Does Intake Of Gabapentin Cause Recurring Bruise On Eyelid?
Hello, I just read the question about gabapentin and a dime sized bruise on the eyelid. I had one about a week ago and it went away, now tonight I looked in the mirror and I have that bruise again. Also I have been battling a rash for about two weeks or so that is raised, not itchy, but spreading, pretty much on the top of my foot. I was on 300mg. of gabapentin until approximately three weeks ago when a doctor in boston upped it to 1200 mg. a day. I have degenerative disc disease, c4 c5 surgery two years ago and l5 s1 surgery one year ago. I have a appointment with the surgeon that operated on me tuesday of this week to get a second opinion. Thank you any advice would be greatly appreciated
Gabapentin belongs to the group of medications known as antiepileptic medications that is used in the treatment of seizures or convulsions, nerve pain, restless leg syndrome etc. But like other medications this medication has some side effects of its own. It may cause unusual bruising in any area of the body like over eyelid.
Again it may cause some unpleasant symptoms of allergic reactions like rashes, itching, swelling of lips, tongue, eyes, face, hands or feet, breathing difficulties, wheezing, dizziness etc. If you experience any side effect during taking this medication, you should consult your doctor first for medical attention.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician
