Does Intake Of Seroflo-100 Have Long Term Effects?

Hello, My name is Ashwin, I m 33yrs old, I have an asthma problem so my doctors has suggested me to take seroflo 100 and so I am using every night one capsule. Is it dangerous or what are the side effects of the same as it has a very good potential to clear out asthma but is it ok to take it regularly or should try some other options??

Dear Ashwin,
Hi & Welcome.

Seroflo inhaler contains a bronchodilator Salmeterol (long acting beta 2 agonist) & a steroid Fluticasone and is commonly used for the treatment of asthma.

Taken in the form of inhaler both are safe and less likely to cause systemic side effects.

Its most common side effects include throat irritation, change of voice, fungal infection of mouth or pharynx which can be prevented by rinsing of the mouth or gargling after using the inhaler. For fungal infection a lozenge containing Nystatin can also be useful.

I always advise my patients who require to take steroid containing inhalers to use "space device" with the inhaler. This is a device which is connected to inhaler. This minimizes the deposition of steroids and inhaler particles in mouth or pharynx and thus prevents the unwanted local side effects.

As there are no long term side effects so there is no harm in taking it regularly.

Hope these answer your queries.

thank you, i m pleased to answer you.
seroflo as capsule will allow you some side effects of lts component named salmeterol.
I prefer for you the 250-inhaled form, that much more efficient for stabilizing asthma.
the treatment must be maintained all the time.
