Does Intake Of Zen Retard Affect Testosterone Levels?

Hi,I am taking zen retard 200 mg from last 15 yrs. It initially started because my brain nerves were weak.But now i have just read recently read online, that this particular medicine has a huge side effect as far as the testosterone is concerned. is it true?? and if yes, what can be done to increase/improve the testosterone.?? pls advise.

I can understand your concern. Zen Retard is Carbamazepine and the drug is a good anti epileptic drug. The drug is also used as mood stabiliser. You are taking 200 mg of the drug since last 15 years and these are low doses of the drug. If no proper dose of drug is taken then the drug doesn't cause its therapeutic effects. So please consult your doctor for dose adjustments or to stop the drug.

The drug in some studies is known to reduce some hormone levels but in most comparative studies the drug was found to be associated with minimal reduction in levels of testosterone. Considering your dose the effect would be minimal so no need to worry. Consult your doctor for reevaluation.

Have healthy diet, exercise daily and your testosterone levels will improve.
