Does Intake Of Contraceptives Affect Menstrual Flow ?

Hello, I had sex a week before my period and panicked and took morning after pill. My period came on the exact date it had to come but it is not flowing as usual. The color is red and has clots (not brown or pink) but it mainly comes out when I go to the bathroom. 3rd day and I ve only used 3 pads and not even filled them up. Very little streaming. ¿is it because of the morning pill?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Slight irregularities including excessive bleeding can happen with emergency pills including Ipill. Generally, it will settle by itself without any treatment. If bleeding persists, you can consult a gynaecologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
