Does Low Carbohydrate And Heavy Fat Diet Prevents From Neurological Disorder?
What are your thoughts about the book GRAIN BRAIN by David Perlmutter. He seems convinced that a low carbohydrate heavy fat diet will prevent many neurological disorders from dementia,ADHD,epilepsy, migraine headaches,& much more.Sounds so contrary to usual view, yet I m open to new studies. Puzzled? Thanks, Jack Peters MD
I have not read that book but as far as I know, it is a well-established fact that low carbohydrates and a high fat diet called a ketogenic diet helps to control seizures in epileptic patients but its efficacy in treating migraines, dementia or ADHD is not known or studied. Migraine is triggered by certain foods like caffeine, alcohol, chocolates etc and ADHD, dementia are more related to mental health than nutritional ones.
