Does Medication Of Vaginal Infection Cause Stomach Upset And Nausea?

Hi doctor,

My doctor prescribed the af kit to me for a vaginal infection. I had the four tablets according to the instructional leaflet yesterday but have been feeling extremely uneasy (upset stomach, nauseous) since. Is this because of the kit? Also I got my period day before yesterday but the bleeding has been very little and today it stopped. Is this worrisome?

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hearing about these disturbing symptoms after taking your medications. The description of this kit closely fits that of a metronidazole/tinidazole They are known to cause gastric upset like nausea, vomiting, etc. These can be aggravated by alcohol consumption, so please keep away from consuming any alcohol containing beverages if you happen to take them.

The good news is that these symptoms generally easy out as the day passes by. Expect to fee a lot better in the days ahead. For the menses, I will suggest that you exercise some patience and only get to pursue further medical attention if something else comes up. For now, there is no need to be too worried. Subtle changes in menstrual flow without any underlying problem are relatively more common than you think.

I hope you find this helpful. I wish you the best of health. Thank you so much for using our services and doo feel free to request for more information if need be.
