Does Midodrine Cause Weakness And Loss Of Strength?

My wife, 82 years old, was put on Midodrine 10MG about 3 months ago to raise her blood pressure. At first, 2 times a day and then increased to 3 times after 1 month. Then back to 2 per day because the increase seemed to be negative for her. She now is just exhausted all of the time, never with any strength. Do you think this med could be causing some of this weakness?

Hi,

Mitodine can cause weakness and dizziness. However, this is not a common side effect and first, we should rule out other causes of weakness like her bP, pulse, and blood work like anaemia, electrolytes, etc.

Once all these causes are ruled out we may be thinking about he drug them. I would also suggest giving her Vit D and calcium supplements.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
