Does Sleep Deprivation Cause Migraine?

I am 48 yes male.I have sleep related migraine.whenever I sleep late or don t get enough sleep ...the next day l start getting an aura after noon time and symptoms start developing by an hour or two.Mostly it starts near the eyes .I have been taking vasograine since ten years without consultation over the counter.I have also got enough experience for how much and when to take.It has effectively helped me ..say four tabs a month whenever migraine occurs. Is it safe to continue or should I go to lesser preventive drugs instead and in other case consult a neurologist?
